TALENTS GUADALAJARA CELEBRATES FIFTEEN YEARS OF PRESENTING DURING THE ACTIVITIES OF THE INTERNATIONAL FILM FESTIVAL IN GUADALAJARA.

Talents Guadalajara celebrates fifteen years of being presented annually within the framework of the Guadalajara International Film Festival since its launch in March 2009, when Guadalajara International Film Festival, in collaboration with the Berlinale Talents of the Berlin International Film Festival, decided to present the first edition - then called Talent Campus Guadalajara -, after a successful visualization that took place in 2008, during FICG23 presented as: Visionary Campus.

Talents Guadalajara is an intensive meeting between actors, film critics, directors, cinematographers, sound designers, editors, scriptwriters and producers from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean that generates creative exchanges, perfects the work of the attendees and contacts the promises of the cinema from the region with experts and the world film industry; Beyond being just a film event, Talents Guadalajara has established itself as the great creative summit where the next generation of actors, filmmakers and film critics meet each other, generate creative links, obtain inspiration and work on their own projects.

Talents Guadalajara also offers a range of international opportunities and collaboration, which are reinforced by the connection that exists with other Talents in the world: Berlinale Talents, Talents Beirut, Talents Buenos Aires, Talents Durban, Talents Sarajevo and Talents Tokyo.

WHAT IS TALENTS GUADALAJARA?

Talents Guadalajara is an intensive meeting of advanced cinematographic improvement activities for emerging filmmakers from Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean, professionally and creatively focused on acting, directing, photography direction, sound design, editing, script and production.

Talents Guadalajara is also aimed at journalists and communication scientists who wish to specialize in film criticism, who actively participate in the Talent Press Guadalajara.

Talents Guadalajara offers the region's promising filmmakers and film critics a platform for creating links and creative exchanges among themselves and with professionals from the international film industry in order to promote film productions of excellence.

Talents Guadalajara presents its eighth annual edition within the framework of activities for the 38th anniversary of the Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG38) from the 2nd to the 6th of June, in collaboration with the Berlinale Talents of the Berlinale Berlin International Film Festival and the Goethe- Institut México, in addition to the support of the San Antonio de los Baños Film School EICTV and the International Federation of Cinematographic Press FIPRESCI.

In this edition, Talents Guadalajara celebrates Quince Años. Throughout this period of time, we have built a huge international community of talents, we have witnessed the development and consolidation of various audiovisual projects.

In Latin American history, the Revolution has emerged as an act of resistance to the darkness and anxiety of our reality. The joy of the people has been a balm to heal and build our historical memory.

Let's turn this edition into a true Revolution of Joy, a creative revolution that brings together accumulated experiences and shared memories, that expresses the richness and diversity of our stories, that shows the intensity of our colors and the sound of our territories.

Let's celebrate together these Fifteen Years of printing our identity on the screen.

TALENT PRESS GUADALAJARA

A space for film criticism

Talent Press Guadalajara is an intensive training in film criticism presented in the Talents Guadalajara program of activities, within the framework of the Guadalajara International Film Festival and with the support of the International Federation of Film Critics FIPRESCI.

Those selected for the Talent Press Guadalajara will have as a daily task the realization of a critique of a feature film screened at the FICG, which is exposed and discussed with colleagues and mentors and, once approved, is published.

TALENT PROJECT MARKET

Your project to the industry

TalTalents Guadalajara, in collaboration with the XIX Coproduction Market of Guadalajara International Film Festival opens the call to participate in the Talent Project Market, a professional pitching experience for feature film projects (documentary or fiction) in development.

Participants will receive an intensive pitching workshop, which will form part of the Talents Guadalajara activities program, to later present their project to representatives of the international film industry attending FICG. This hands-on pitching experience offers participants the chance to get producers and co-producers for their films

The call is open to PRODUCERS and DIRECTORS who have a feature film project (documentary or fiction) that has not yet been filmed (in the development stage) with a finished script and ready to be presented to possible co-producers (production folder in Spanish and English: subscribed producer and director (bio-filmography of each one), short and long synopsis, budget, provisional financing plan, current status of the project (with at least 20% financing obtained) and letter of intent of the director). In addition to having audiovisual material to show: project teaser or trailer with existing project material; or, failing that, a demo of the director with his previous works.

To participate, it is an essential requirement to speak fluently English, since a large part of the appointments are agreed with international co-producers.

If you meet the requirements and are interested in participating, you must complete your profile as indicated in the general call to participate. Once your profile is complete, you will be asked to upload your feature film project in .pdf format for evaluation.

The selection committee made up of producers and directors who are experts in the field, will choose up to 6 projects, their theme and viability for an international co-production will be evaluated.

SELECTION OF PARTICIPANTS

Up to 35 applications will be chosen to participate in Talents Guadalajara. The selection of the participants will be ruled by the Selection Committee, of which the names of the members will be announced once the results are published.

The Committee will evaluate the quality, proposal and experience in the audiovisual production of the interested parties. In addition, it will seek to select as far as possible a heterogeneous group of fields and nationalities.

Talents Guadalajara has a limited space, so the refusal to participate does not determine the lack of quality in the application submitted.

DATES AND RESULTS

The Talents Guadalajara 2023 call opens on Friday, March 3 and closes on Friday, April 7, 2023. The results will be announced on Monday, April 24, 2023, via email to those interested and through the publication of the list. on the FICG website.

THOSE SELECTED MUST CONFIRM THEIR ATTENDANCE BEFORE MAY 5, 2023, OTHERWISE, THEIR PARTICIPATION WILL BE CANCELED.

The FICG will provide free registration, the possibility of accommodation, breakfast and lunch for those selected, and accreditation to the FICG38.

In case of being selected, Talents Guadalajara refrains from supporting the visa management to enter Mexico, only a letter can be provided via email in which the interested party is accredited as selected to participate in Talents Guadalajara 2023.

The interested party must carry out the corresponding procedures in their country of origin or residence in person. Talents Guadalajara and FICG will in no case bear the expenses generated by said procedure.

IMPORTANT: Any unforeseen situation or changes in the points indicated in this call will be resolved by the organizing committee of the FICG.

Talents Guadalajara 2023 presents an intensive program of activities such as: Master Classes, Meet the experts, Workshops, Special Screenings, Talent Project Market and Talent Press Guadalajara, from June 2nd to 6th, 2023.

The detailed program of activities as well as the publication of the participating experts will be published two weeks before the start of the Talents Guadalajara activities.

The description of the mechanics to be developed in each activity is as follows:

+ Master class

Renowned filmmakers of the world share their knowledge acquired in their trajectory of exploration and personal learning in cinematography and explain the different techniques and methodologies they use in their work, interviewed by a specialist in the expert's fie.

+ Meet the experts

Experts from the international film industry, from different backgrounds, cultures and creative tendencies discuss the various techniques, information and practice on a specific topic

+ Workshops

Experts from the film industry of the world, present their knowledge and experience acquired, in a laboratory of analysis and practice, so that the participants exercise their learning in a specific practice, promoting a tangible and immediate result, a consequence of the teaching and guidance of the tutors of the workshop.
